Breas-t augmentation can be achieved by placing breas-t prostheses (implants) or by injecting your own fat (“lipofilling”). Due to the anatomical shape of modern prostheses, a natural shape is perfectly achievable. Breas-t augmentation is predictable and safe if performed by experienced surgeons.
You want to do something about your silhouette, your breas-ts. You have normal breas-t development, but you would like to have “something more” to feel “more feminine”. What are your options?
The most obvious is a breas-t augmentation by means of a breas-t implant. However, there are many possibilities for inserting a breas-t implant and there are as many different types and brands of breas-t implants available in the market. In most cases you will opt for a result that is as natural as possible. Perhaps this is not exactly what you are looking for and you want a striking result. This is obviously a personal choice that you decide for yourself. Whatever your choice may be, we guarantee that you will achieve the result that you had in mind, in the safest and most sustainable way. It can always be useful to bring to the consultation some pictures or photos of ladies to whom you can mirror. This will help us to imagine how you see yourself in the future.
When you come to a consultation, we will give you an explanation of the technical process of the breas-taugmentation. After this, different dimensions of your breas-ts are taken, with particular attention being paid to the position of the nipples and to the width of the breas-t. With this information we can then help you to choose the right breas-t implants.
A second option for obtaining larger breas-ts is the use of own fat. This relatively new technique is called “lipofilling”. With this, the required amount of fat is removed from your body (usually lower tummy, love handles, inner thighs which also helps in getting rid of the unnecessary fat to a certain extent!) by means of fine liposuction, after which this fat is processed and injected into the breas-t through a few key-holes. These key-holes are barely 2-3 mm in size and leave no visible scars. The advantages of these methods are clear: you do not use foreign material, you actually get two operations for the price of one (a breas-t augmentation and a liposuction together), and the final result stays good all your life! Moreover, you get breas-ts that feel very natural and look very natural. The biggest disadvantage of this method is that during the recovery period about half of the introduced fat will melt away. Approximately 4 months after the operation, this stabilizes and the obtained result will no longer change. However, it is possible for you to ask for extra volume at the moment, if u deem necessary. This can then be perfectly executed by a second lipofilling session.
A few more common queries answered
Am I a good candidate for Breas-t Augmentation Surgery?
Breas-t Augmentation procedure is suitable for you if:
- You have smaller breas-t size and desire a more proportionate figure
- You want a deeper cleavage
- You have lost breas-t size & shape due to massive weight loss
- You have lost of volume on yourbreas-ts due to natural ageing or breas-tfeeding/pregnancy
- You have asymmetric breas-ts and the uneven size is prominently visible
What are the incisions involved in Breas-t Augmentation Surgery?
The point of incision depends upon the patient’s body structure
AXILLARY: This incision is used when the patient has small symmetrical breas-ts but with the modern textures and wide-based implants, it is becoming less common.
PERIAREOLAR: We make the half-moon shaped incision on the lower edged of the areola where it touches the skin.
SUBMAMMARY FOLD: We make an incision of about 4 – 5 cm along the sub mammary fold. When the operation is over, dressing and drains are placed in both breas-ts if this is surgically indicated. We mostly do a drain free breas-t augmentation following modern techniques.
We prefer a sub-mammary incision as it is well hidden under the breas-t and usually fades to inconspicuous scar with time. The implants are placed either under the pectoralis major muscle or under the breas-t tissue.
You can opt for a natural breas-t shape (teardrop) by choosing an anatomical shaped implant or you can balloon up both the upper and lower poles of your breas-ts by using a round implant. Always choose cohesive gel silicone implants which are CE and US-FDA approved. We only use such implants.
Recovery after breas-t augmentation procedure
Breas-t Augmentation is usually an outpatient procedure and in only some cases you will stay in the hospital for just one night. You may have some swelling, bruising & discomfort in the first 24-48 hours. This is only temporary and diminishes as the recovery proceeds.
You can start your daily routine work from next day after the surgery and can go for a walk, etc. If you are on a desk job, you will be able to return to work 3 days post-op. You must avoids knocks/jerks, sudden movements when driving, lifting weights, etc., for approximately 3 weeks. Do not wear any bra for about 3 weeks after the surgery since it may deform the result obtained. Thanks to our partners, you can find online to suit every preference and budget, from budget to top-of-the-range super stylish models.
By 1 month, bruising, discomfort and most swelling will disappear and you will feel “back to normal”. And by 6-8 weeks, you can begin all types of physical activities, but only after the consulting your surgeon before you undertake any heavy activity.
The breas-ts will still continue to settle into their final position over the course of the next few months.
Auto-augmentation of breas-ts
Apart from using your own fat for breas-t augmentation, it can also be achieved with free tissue transfer (using microvascular surgery) especially for breas-t reconstruction. It involves harvesting your own tissues from the tummy or the love handles with their vasculature and using the same for reconstructing or augmenting your breas-ts.
Advantages
- You lose the extra tummy / love handle soft tissue thereby giving a flatter tummy (like a tummy tuck)
- You do not use any foreign material, if that is your concern
- Permanent results
Relative disadvantages
- You get a scar like a tummy tuck
- More challenging and surgically complex procedure as it involves microvascular surgery. Downtime is slightly more
- Less scope for re-do surgery and alterations if needed later
These modalities are more suited for women who have undergone mastectomy (of various types) for oncological/non-oncological reasons and who desire breas-t reconstruction which would make them feel better and more confident about themselves. It has proven benefits of enhancing one’s own self image and self esteem. It empowers a woman once again!
